No lie, the saga of reformed impression zombie Ken-chan might be the most heartwarming thing I've ever heard. The last time I tried to understand a trending topic in Japan I had to give up after scrolling through fifteen of the same AI-generated cat picture. (Like, how have these people managed to ruin kittens, the foundational building block of the internet? What is the world coming to?)

Very heartwarming it is, although Ken is still reposting random videos (Lionel Messi, food pictures) that have nothing to do with Japan!

You want to scream at him: can’t you see you won the social media lottery?!

(Then again, I fully thought I’d be writing a true crime newsletter this time last week; 80% of readers said they didn’t want it…)

See, this is on me because if I had caught that poll in time, I would've 100% voted for true crime. Not that this would've swayed the apparent landslide in the opposite direction, but maybe the thought still counts.
